New funding program open – apply for funding for your innovation project

The funding program opens for applications on 17 August.

The purpose of this funding program is to support emerging life science companies and direct innovation towards new labour-saving concepts (e.g. solutions, products, workflows, and processes). The aim is to enable small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), in collaboration with other stakeholders, to develop demand-driven and market-relevant concepts that address the needs of the public healthcare system.

Below you will find the criteria, requirements, and framework for applying for funding from the Innovation Fund.

The Innovation Fund supports projects that develop, test, and validate new solutions, products, and concepts that help address one of the healthcare sector’s greatest challenges: the shortage of workforce and resources.

The project must:

• Solve a societal challenge. Innovation collaborations must contribute to solving the healthcare sector’s dual demographic challenge: an ageing population is increasing the demand for care and treatment, while a shrinking working-age population is creating workforce shortages. The goal is to free up workforce capacity within the public healthcare system.
• Create innovation through collaboration. The funding program provides small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with support to develop and test new solutions and concepts in collaboration with other actors, e.g. municipalities, hospitals, knowledge institutions or other companies.
• Deliver impactful development.

Projects must lead to new products or solutions that:

Creates value and growth for companies, and free up workforce capacity through direct or indirect time savings for healthcare professionals.

Important requirements

• The funding program goes to innovation collaborations. In addition to an SME, each project must involve at least one other partner. For example another company, a municipality, a hospital, or a knowledge institution.
• The project must result in a developed concept for a new solution or product. It is a requirement that the result can be documented.
• If a knowledge institution participates in the project, its activities must be of a non-economic nature.
