All international startups get free access to AI tools supported by Danish Life Science Cluster

It should be easier for European startups to find their way through the jungle of rules and standards in AI. Therefore, the use of a free AI tool will now be opened to support companies in the development of their solutions. The tool is based on knowledge from collaboration across national borders and sectors.
If Danish technology startups are to have a chance against competitors from China, the US or India, there is a need for strong European cooperation.
Therefore, Danish Life Science Cluster recently participated in the ICT&health World Conference in the Netherlands, where the goal was, among other things, to support companies in their MDR work.
– There is a strong scene of innovative AI startups in Denmark and the rest of Europe. But there is a long way from a good idea to commercial success in the market, and therefore, we must make it easy for companies to reach the relevant standards and approvals, says Signe Ulrik Holm, project manager at Danish Life Science Cluster.
At the Dutch conference, it was announced that free access to the AI tool Entries will now be available for European startups and other interested parties.

Digital course
The tool, which is an e-catalogue, will help entrepreneurs through the jungle of laws and regulations they encounter on their way to market with their AI solution. It is a digital course where the tool asks questions and uses the answers to put the user on the right track within, for example, target group, classification and the planned collection of data.
The tool continuously indicates which European rules within e.g. MDR, IVDR and Data-Act apply to the solution in question, and to what extent an entrepreneur complies with or can comply with them.
The tool will also become part of training activities and tools for healthcare professionals and clinicians through the project CAIDX – Clinical AI in Diagnostics.

Get support to make informed decisions
The tool is supported by the Finnish innovation fund Sitra and developed by the company Lean Entries and Heikki Pitkänen, with whom the Danish Life Science Cluster has collaborated for a number of years. He has previously worked for Notified Bodies.
– Both entrepreneurs and professionals working with the implementation of AI solutions are better off if they know the rules and responsibilities early in the process. The tool is designed to guide developers and help them make informed decisions, says Heikki Pitkänen.
Tested by Danish companies
The AI tool has been tested by a large number of companies in Danish Life Science Cluster, and project manager Signe Ulrik Holm says:
– A large number of innovative Danish tech and health tech startups say that the tool helps them understand the possibilities of their regulatory strategy. The e-catalogue forces companies to take a critical view of their innovation from the regulatory perspective, and make the regulatory strategy an active part of their development. It provides value when we want them to have the best possible conditions to reach the market with their solutions, says Signe Ulrik Holm.
