Experts in red biotech wanted for new European expert group – Denmark must contribute to lifting innovation power in Europe
Together with 11 European partners, the Danish Life Science Cluster will help develop a new accelerator programme within red biotech. Therefore, we are now seeking Danish experts who can support European startups in their commercial and regulatory endeavours. Read more about the project and join the European expert group.
The European Union is investing heavily in raising the level of innovation among companies in the red biotech and pharma sectors – particularly in regions that currently lag behind.
The goal of the EU is clear: The level of innovation should be raised so more companies can scale, strengthen their technical and commercial foundation, and eventually enter into EU partnerships and funding programmes.
Denmark plays an important role in this, and now, more Danish experts are to be involved.
New project to accelerate innovation and business development
The Danish Life Science Cluster is part of the project, BioRed – an international collaborative project, which aims to promote innovation and business development in red biotech and pharma across the EU.
The project focuses on creating an optimal framework for startups and small companies that have the potential to develop technologies and solutions with great societal value – but who lack access to the necessary expertise, capital and networks.
Join a European expert group
As a project partner, the Danish Life Science Cluster will contribute to finding and selecting Danish profiles who can be part of an international expert group across disciplines. The experts will have a central role in shaping and qualifying the upcoming Bio-Red accelerator program.
The group will consist of a total of 10 people across the partner countries in red biotech or pharma.
The experts must represent at least one of the three categories:
1. Research
2. Regulations
3. Business development
How to join the expert group
As a participant in the expert group, you are expected to be able to:
1. Attend four online meetings in June 2026
2. Make your knowledge and experience available to startups across the EU
3. Help qualify and prioritise the content of the BioRed accelerator programme
4. Contribute with insight into requirements, opportunities and barriers within their field of expertise
Together with the other experts, you will ensure that the accelerator programme is academically strong, relevant and practically applicable to the companies that will be participating.
You will be introduced to the first ideas of the project partners. Based on discussions and priorities in the accelerator programme, you will help define:
- Structure and learning process
- Academic tracks
- Requirements for participating companies
- Elements that may increase the chances of future EU funding
Your input can be crucial to the quality of the programme and to the project’s overall objective of boosting innovation and growth across Europe.

What is red biotech?
Red biotechnology encompasses biotechnology solutions and technologies in health, medicine, and pharmaceutical development. It is the part of biotechnology that deals with:
- Development of drugs and therapies
- Diagnostic tools and biomarkers
- Cell and gene therapy
- Vaccines
- New technologies that improve disease prevention, treatment and patient pathways
Red biotech is an area with high demands on research, regulations and commercialization, because the technologies often must go through clinical studies, regulatory processes and longer market maturation than many other biotechnology disciplines.
