Lighthouse Life Science – Mental Health
In the autumn of 2023, Lighthouse Life Science enters its second phase, which will focus on improving mental health. Danish Life Science Cluster continues to be part of the project’s steering committee, and the cluster will be involved in running a series of projects and activities aimed at promoting growth in companies and strengthening overall mental health.
The first initiative of Lighthouse Life Science was named ‘Healthy Weight’. The focus was on developing new health solutions within life science and welfare technology that can prevent, detect, and treat severe obesity. Read more about the specific projects here.
The second initiative in Lighthouse Life Science is called ‘Mental Health’ and will work towards better mental well-being for children, youth, adults, and the elderly. The goal is still to create more equality in health, and the Lighthouse will involve both public and private sectors in the pursuit of new knowledge and solutions.
Lighthouse Life Science – Mental Health has received 72.8 million DKK from the Danish Board of Business Development.

Collaboration across public and private sectors
Since autumn 2023 and for the next three years, Lighthouse Life Science – Mental Health has been running a series of projects and activities aimed at elevating Danish companies with solutions for better mental well-being.
The goal of the lighthouse is for Denmark to be a place that the rest of the world looks to for life science and technological health solutions. In Lighthouse Life Science, businesses, public organizations, private foundations, knowledge institutions, and others collaborate to create new solutions and knowledge that can improve health in Denmark and the rest of the world and create more health equity.
What solutions does the public sector need?
The activities in this round of the lighthouse will have an even greater focus on public sector needs, ensuring all calls and activities are needs-driven. Activities in the second round of Lighthouse Life Science include:
- A pool for public-private innovation work
- Access to new knowledge and guidance
- Support for scaling nationally and internationally
Lighthouse Life Science is one of eight regional business lighthouses, each focusing on one of Denmark’s strengths. The first partnership agreements were signed in autumn 2022 between the local consortia for each of the eight business lighthouses, the state, the board of the local business hub, and the Danish Board of Business Development to set the strategic direction for further work.
A new partnership agreement for Lighthouse Life Science II has been signed in the autumn of 2023, and now projects and activities has been initiated.
The project is co-financed by the European Union.
